Kṛṣṇāṣṭakam is a famous hymn consisting of eight verses that celebrate and honor Lord Kṛṣṇa.
These are two of those verses, which can be sung separately or together. We also invite you to reflect on their rich meaning and evocative visualizations.
Before you listen to and start chanting these verses, please take a moment to pause and center yourself. Feel the space of your heart, and connect with the ground beneath your body. Connect with the divine energy inside, and then start your practice.
I offer my salutations to Lord Kṛṣṇa, the son of Vasudeva, who killed the great demons Kaṁsa and Cāṇūra. He is the great joy of Devakī, and is the guru of our world.
I worship Lord Kṛṣṇa, the Universal Guru, whose eyes resemble fully blown lotuses and whose body has the color of dark rain clouds. I worship the crest-jewel of the Yādava clan.
