This lesson examines the symbolism and iconography of Dakṣiṇāmūrti – the form of Śiva identified as the primordial guru. In this class, you will discover layers and layers of profound wisdom and teaching encoded in simple visual attributes such as posture, hair, clothing, and gestures.
This particular deity is a way for everyone to connect with the blessing power of the Guru, whether or not you have a human sadguru. And, as you will see in this video class, he embodies the qualities of a true Guru. Studying his form helps us to recognize them, as well as cultivate our own studentship and self-mastery.
